Another nonstop flight is returning to Indianapolis International Airport. The airport says Delta Air Lines Inc. (NYSE: DAL) will begin daily nonstop service from Indy to Memphis, Tennessee, a route that has not been available since 2015.
The new nonstop service will begin October 1. Indianapolis Airport Authority Executive Director Mario Rodriguez says the route brings several benefits, including connecting the FedEx hub in Indianapolis to the company’s largest hub in Memphis.
“We’ve been working for a while on a route to Memphis, and Delta had a close eye on the market trends and made it happen,” Rodriguez said in a news release. “The reality of COVID has brought a shift in market demand, and we could see more shift in this direction as the pandemic runs its course. We applaud airlines like Delta who are at the forefront of those shifts and pivoting to meet them.”
The airport says the Indy-to-Memphis flight is currently available for October 1 through December 18. Details on future plans for the route were not released.
