Delta Air Lines (NYSE: DAL) is adding three nonstop flights from southern cities to Indianapolis for the College Football Playoff National Championship. Delta has added one-time service with flights from Birmingham, Huntsville and Savannah targeting fans of the University of Alabama and the University of Georgia.
The flights will take off January 8, with return flights set for the 11th, the day after the championship.
“Delta literally has its eye on the ball with this one-time service opportunity for fans wanting to come join the excitement and fun rivalry in Indy that is sure to energize this much-hoped-for rematch of two titan college football teams,” said Indianapolis Airport Authority Executive Director Mario Rodriguez.
Rodriguez says the airport anticipates more than 100,000 fans will converge on Indianapolis leading up to the championship.
