DeKalb Health in Auburn has named Tasha Eicher interim president and chief executive officer. Eicher will succeed Craig Polkow, who announced last week he is leaving at the end of the year to accept a position with a larger healthcare system in southern Indiana.

The health system says Eicher will assume the interim role on January 1. She will also continue in her current position as vice president of physician services, strategy and development.

"As the healthcare landscape continues to evolve, we are confident Tasha Eicher will successfully lead DeKalb Health during the transition," said Doug Morrow, chair of the DeKalb Health Board of Directors. "The process to name a permanent CEO is underway."

DeKalb Health says both Polkow and Eicher were instrumental in developing the hospital’s strategic plan. The health system did not provide an estimated time frame for choosing a permanent successor for Polkow.
