Two manufacturers in Indiana have been awarded contracts from the U.S. Department of Defense. ERAPSCO in Columbia City could receive up to $220 million as part of contract modification for production of underwater sound series sonobuoys and South Bend-based AM General LLC will provide various components through $69 million in deals.

ERAPSCO says the work involves nearly 170,000 sonobuoys. Nearly half of the work for the U.S. Navy, expected to be complete by October 2020, will be performed in Whitley County.

AM General says its recent round of awards involve orders for fragmentary armor kits and 6.5L V8 turbodiesel engines. The company says the aftermarket products are used for High Mobility Multipurpose Wheeled Vehicles used for military purposes.
