‘Decades in The Making’ Announcement in Muncie

The proposed gateway work will link up with Cardinal Greenway.

A long-anticipated, multi-million dollar plan to redevelop a former industrial property in Muncie will come into focus today. Mayor Dennis Tyler and DD Dannar LLC owner Gary Dannar are set for an announcement regarding the proposed Kitselman Pure Energy Park and Kitselman Gateway.

Dannar is also the head of KPEP Indiana LLC.

Plans for the project involve a major overhaul of the former Indiana Steel and Wire Co. property, including relocation of Dannar’s South Carolina-based mobile power station business, large-scale trail head for the Cardinal Greenway and a city-owned speculative building. Some additional infrastructure and residential components could also be included.

The Muncie-Delaware County Economic Development Alliance says the announcement, set for 10 a.m. at the Horizon Convention Center, has been "decades in the making."

In 2013, Dannar’s company announced plans to move operations to Muncie and add some 290 jobs.
