Fort Wayne-based DeBrand Fine Chocolates will open an Indianapolis location this fall at The Shops at River Crossing. The company also has four locations in Fort Wayne.

DeBrand previously had a location at Indianapolis’ Fashion Mall Commons, across the street from where the new location will be. A company spokesperson tells Inside INdiana Business that location closed after seven years because it was difficult to operate with the headquarters being more than two hours away.

The spokesperson says DeBrand President Cathy Brand-Beere already had a business structure in place if a local partner wanted to bring a location outside of Fort Wayne. The new location has been in the works for about a year.

Last year, DeBrand opened a downtown Fort Wayne location in the $100 million Ash Brokerage Skyline Plaza.
