Dearborn, Wabash counties earn Stellar Pathways designation

The Indiana Office of Community and Rural Affairs on Tuesday announced the winners of the revamped Stellar Pathways program.
Dearborn County and Wabash County will each receive $6.5 million in funding to support a variety of quality of place projects in their communities.
The Stellar Pathways program was originally created as Stellar Communities. The program was relaunched earlier this year after being dormant for the past five years with the goal of spurring local and regional partnerships in rural Indiana areas.
Dearborn and Wabash counties were among four finalists announced in June. The finalists worked for six months to develop comprehensive plans outlining the projects that would boost their communities with Stellar funding.
OCRA said the winners were selected based on factors such as the impact of their proposed projects, local and private leverage, alignment with eligible funding sources, investment need, long-term viability, and connection to community engagement and needs.
“All four of our Stellar Pathways finalist regions worked extremely hard over the year and I thank each of them for their dedication to bettering their communities,” OCRA Executive Director Duke Bennett said in a news release. “Our team looks forward to seeing the many positive outcomes of this program for each of our finalists and our two designated regions.”
