He succeeds longtime leader Ron Arnold, who announced in the summer he would be leaving the organization at year’s end. Niehoff currently serves as director of the City of Shelbyville Planning and Building Department.
Niehoff, a Ball State University graduate, says "I’m excited to bring a fresh pair of eyes to an already successful operation. Daviess County and the City of Washington hold significant opportunities to further build upon the State’s regional economic development focus and work together to take Southwest Indiana to the next level."
Accomplishments during Arnold’s time at the helm of the DCEDC include Daviess County rising to the top spot for per capita income growth in the state and leading efforts to establish the WestGate@Crane Technology Park, which is now home to more than $100 million in facilities and around 650 jobs. Over his 17 years with the DCEDC, economic development initiatives totaling $20 million in local income revenue and 1,600 new jobs came to Daviess County. Arnold will become an independent consultant after his departure from the DCEDC.
