Democrat Evan Bayh, Republican Todd Young and Libertarian Lucy Brenton are seeking to succeed Senator Dan Coats (R-IN), who is not seeking another term.
The debate will take place October 18 at the WFYI-TV studio in Indianapolis. It will be broadcast live, beginning at 7:00 p.m. The Indiana Debate Commission says it is working with all three campaigns to schedule a second debate.
"The campaigns have been cooperating with us as we have been working toward scheduling two debates in recent weeks," said Dan Byron, president of the Indiana Debate Commission. "We are confident we will accomplish that with the candidates, who understand the need for voters to learn their positions on domestic and international affairs so important to Indiana and the nation."
Members of the public can submit questions for the candidates at the Indiana Debate Commission’s website. The commission says it will select questions on a variety of topics for the debate.
Coats announced last year that he will not seek re-election. Bayh announced in July he was running for the Senate seat after Democrat Baron Hill withdrew from the race.
