Damar Services expanding to Richmond

Indianapolis-based Damar Services Inc. is continuing to expand throughout Indiana with plans for a new location in Richmond, the organization announced Friday.
The nonprofit said the Richmond Campus will provide residential, outpatient and community-based behavioral health services for youth in the area, including residents in Ohio.
On April 30, Damar closed on the acquisition of the former Wernle Youth & Family Treatment Center for an undisclosed amount. The 74-acre property has been closed since early 2024, the organization said.
Damar plans to make renovations to the property, though it is not saying how much it is investing in that effort.
“Damar is eager to share our organization’s experience and expertise to help families in the eastern part of the state who are facing some of life’s most challenging situations,” Damar CEO Jim Dalton said in a news release.
The organization said depending on community needs, the Richmond Campus could also offer Applied Behavior Analysis services and a new charter school in the future.
The Richmond Campus is expected to open this fall, and a spokesperson for Damar said the facility could ultimately employ up to 150 people, with on-site hiring fairs planned for this summer.
Damar Services operates multiple behavioral health facilities primarily in central Indiana, though it also has a location in East Chicago that it took over in 2024.
