Cummins to make ‘major announcement’

Columbus-based Cummins Inc. (NYSE: CMI) will make what it is calling a major announcement on Wednesday. Few details are available, but the manufacturer said it will detail its strategy to “accelerate the transition to a decarbonized future.”
The announcement will be made at the Rubell Museum in Washington D.C. CEO Jennifer Rumsey and Amy Davis, president of Cummins’ New Power Business, will be on hand.
Rumsey was named CEO of Cummins last July, becoming the first woman to the lead the company. In an interview on Inside INdiana Business with Gerry Dick shortly after her appointment, Rumsey said the “Destination Zero” strategy to reach net-zero emissions by 2050 is key to the company’s future.
“We’re at a critical point for our planet and I think for Cummins’ history with climate change and with challenges in the world,” said Rumsey. “Just as we embraced the need to reduce emissions from diesel engines, we’re embracing the need and our role serving some of the world’s most demanding and also economically vital applications and decarbonizing them.”
We’ll have more on the announcement from our partners at the Indianapolis Business Journal as it becomes available.
