Columbus-based Cummins Inc. (NYSE: CMI) will celebrate Thursday morning the opening of its $30 million global distribution business headquarters in downtown Indianapolis. Governor-elect Eric Holcomb and Indianapolis Mayor Joe Hogsett will join Cummins officials to cut the ribbon on the building, which sits on the former site of Market Square Arena.
The nine-story, 170,000 square-foot facility, which broke ground in April 2015, will have space for about 450 employees from Indianapolis and Columbus. In an interview with Inside INdiana Business in September, Chief Administrative Officer Marya Rose said the new headquarters would provide a different experience for employees and help with recruiting and retention.
The ribbon-cutting ceremony is scheduled for 10:00 a.m.
Jon Mills, director of external communications for Cummins, talked about the new building on Inside INdiana Business Television in October. You can view that interview in the video above.
