Cummins Inc. has promoted Melina Kennedy to executive director of global rail and defense. She was named general manager of the rail and defense team at the end of 2014. Kennedy and her team recently secured a new contract to supply hundreds of engines to power U.S. military vehicles. She previously served as director of executive communications. Before joining Cummins, she spent more than 15 years practicing law and holding key public-service roles in the state of Indiana. Kennedy earned her B.A. in Environmental Studies and History, her M.S. in Environmental Science and her J.D. from Indiana University. She is active in the greater Indianapolis-area community. Kennedy currently volunteers as a member of the Mind Trust Education Champions group and serves as president of the Capital Improvement Board in Indianapolis.
