The Cummins Seymour Engine Plant has been admitted into the Indiana Department of Environmental Management’s Environmental Stewardship Program. The plant joins 55 other businesses that have committed to maintaining environmental improvements, including reducing water and energy use, minimizing waste and/or reducing emissions.

High horsepower diesel and gas engines are made at the plant, which has maintained environmental compliance, developed an environmental management system and was able to reduce energy consumption in the first year through LED lighting and power-down process automation.

Future projects include recycling improvements and a partnership with Heritage Interactive to reduce waste and increase sustainability awareness. The plant must now report on environmental initiatives each year and reapply for membership every four years.
