Columbus-based Cummins has promoted Carole Casto to vice president of communications. In this newly-created position, she will oversee the company’s global communication strategy, executive speech writing, crisis communications, digital, visual and internal communications and media relations. Since 2012, Casto has served as executive director of corporate communications. Through her leadership, Cummins introduced advanced digital technologies to break down communication barriers and improve productivity across the company. She also was instrumental in the development and global implementation of Cummins first Women’s Conference, which serves to celebrate the achievements of the company’s top female leaders and aligning with critical goals for diversity. Casto previously served as director of corporate quality and worked for the State of Indiana, serving as chief operating officer for the Family and Social Services Administration and Department of Environmental Management. Also, Mahesh Narang has been appointed vice president of  Cummins Turbo Technologies. It designs and manufactures turbochargers and related products on a global scale for diesel engines above 3 liters and is part of the components segment. He joined Cummins in 2002 as an MBA intern. After completing his MBA, Narang joined the High Horsepower Engine Business as a marketing and product manager and later took on the role of mining marketing manager. He then moved into the Power Generation Business as a worldwide market leader for Commercial Mobile and later assumed the role of plant manager for Cummins Emission Solutions in South Africa. In 2010, Narang became the leader of the Industrial Engine Business in India. In 2012, he became chief operating officer for the Cummins India Area Business Organization.
Narang earned a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from Mumbai University (India), an MBA from the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University in Evanston, Illinois and a master’s in engineering management from Northwestern University. He is a graduate of the Cummins Executive Leadership Development Program.
