The town says the facility, which has been in the works for three years, will make Culver a hub of art and culture.
The amphitheater is located at Lake Maxinkuckee in the Marshall County town. The idea for the project followed a community survey conducted by the Culver Parks and Recreation Department, the results of which showed residents wanted more outdoor activities and local arts programming.
The facility was funded through a crowdfunding campaign, which raised nearly $46,000, along with a $30,000 matching grant from the Indiana Housing and Community Development Authority and a $25,000 grant from the Marshall County Community Foundation.
"The Damore Amphitheater will be a beautiful venue for all kinds of events including outdoor concerts, shows, and presentations. Its open design will also give the audience a view of Lake Maxinkuckee," said Culver Town Manager Jonathan Leist. "Thanks to our recent Stellar designation, the Culver Beach Lodge just next door to the amphitheater is getting some long-awaited renovations. Together, these projects will really enhance Culver Park and improve quality of life in our community."
The grand opening celebration is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. at Culver Park and is free and open to the public.
