Crouch Announces Team Indiana for Culinary Crossroads
Lieutenant Governor Suzanne Crouch has announced a team of Hoosiers is set to compete in the 2019 World Food Championships in Texas in October. Team Indiana, a mix of culinary professionals and amateur home cooks, is the first initiative for Culinary Crossroads.
Culinary Crossroads is a campaign that aims to raise awareness of the people, products, services and attractions that make up the state’s culinary culture.
The Indiana Office of Tourism Development will sponsor of Team Indiana alongside Indiana Grown, ClusterTruck, Red Gold, Piazza Produce, Central Restaurant Products, Indiana Kitchen-Premium Pork Products and Agency Worldwide.
“Team Indiana features a wide selection of the most creative and talented chefs and home cooks our state has to offer,” Crouch said in a news release. “Their participation in the rapidly expanding world of food sport, and specifically the World Food Championships, will introduce the Culinary Crossroads brand to the international stage.”
Before travelling to 2019 World Food Championships in October, Team Indiana will hold public events statewide this summer, including events at the Indiana State Fair this August.
Indianapolis chefs Craig Baker of Nostalgia Catering and Cindy Hawkins of Circle City Sweets hold leadership roles for Team Indiana.
