Razavian joined NSWC Crane in 1989 as an engineer and served time in Washington D.C. as a deputy major program manager. He returned to southern Indiana in 2013 to serve as technical director.
"It’s been an absolutely fantastic journey and I wouldn’t want to finish my career with the federal government any other way than at NSWC Crane," said Razavian. "I was not necessarily planning to leave but the opportunity just opened up and after 28 years it makes sense for me to do this. There’s a lot of personal challenge involved in doing the same things I do for the government over in industry instead."
Razavian is leaving to begin in his new role with Virginia-based General Dynamics. The naval base says several personnel will fill his position on a rotational basis until a new technical director is appointed.
"He has taken us down a very positive path during his three years as technical director," said Capt. Jeffrey Elder, commanding officer at NSWC Crane. "Dr. Razavian has provided excellent technical direction to the scientists, engineers and technicians who are working daily around the world to make sure our warfighters have the technology necessary to ensure a decisive advantage over our adversaries."
Razavian says he plans to keep a home in Bloomington while he and his wife move to Virginia for his new role with General Dynamics.
