Statement From Ann Murtlow, president and chief executive officer, United Way of Central Indiana
With tonight's vote to approve funding for the Indy Preschool Scholarship Program, Indianapolis is poised to make huge gains for our community. If approved as the program's administrator, United Way of Central Indiana is honored to build on our early commitment to and effectiveness in ensuring that our children attend the highest quality early education programs and that providers have the resources they need to achieve their highest potential. The resulting progress in the coming five years will benefit us all.
We applaud the resolve of the Mayor, the councillors, the corporate and nonprofit sectors, and early childhood professionals to unite around the ultimate goal: creating more ready-for-life 18-year olds.
