The Evansville City Council has approved tax abatement on four expansion proposals. The Courier & Press reports one project involves construction of a new grocery store at one of the city's largest shopping centers. HK Partners LLC wants to construct a new, larger Schnucks Market on a different part of the Washington Square Mall. Developers say the new store will boost employment from 380 full-time workers to 540.

Tri-State Orthopaedic Surgeons requested a 10-year tax phase-in and wants to add nearly five dozen jobs over five years as part of its growth plans.

Engineering firm Traylor Brothers is looking to renovate its current facilities and Sugar Steel is planning to relocate and add manufacturing equipment.
