Contract Pharma Facility Slated to Close

Pennsylvania-based West Pharmaceutical Services Inc. says it plans to close its only Indiana operation. The Frankfort facility, which provides contract manufacturing, custom molding and assembly functions, currently employs 54. The global company says "virtually all" positions in Clinton County will be eliminated after October 1.
Layoffs will take place in four groups through the end of November. In a notice to the state, West says the employees affected by the closing will be eligible for severance packages, which will include pay and job assistance. The largest proportion of jobs that will be cut are operator assemblers and production leads. The company recently reported second quarter net income of $56.1 million, compared to $38.8 million during the same period a year earlier.
