Construction Begins on South Bend Warehouse Building

Work is underway on a new 210,000-square-foot spec building at the Ameriplex 80/90 Business Park in South Bend. The South Bend Regional Chamber says nearly $10 million is being invested in the building, which is expected to be available in the second quarter of 2018.
The facility will serve as a modern cross-docked warehouse and distribution center. It will have the capability to expand to 378,000 square feet and will feature 20 dock doors that could be expanded to 40, if necessary.
"This is an important development for our region," said Jeff Rea, chief executive officer of the South Bend Regional Chamber. "Nearly 80% of all prospects considering our area last year were looking for an existing building, and we simply couldn’t meet their need. This building fills an important gap in our building inventory, and given the interest we’ve seen in this area over the past few years, we believe it will fill very quickly."
The Ameriplex 80/90 Business Park currently houses tenants including FedEx Corp. (NYSE: FDX), AM General, and Chase Plastics, among others.
