Construction begins on Fort Wayne soccer stadium

Crews have begun moving dirt at the site of a new, 8,400-seat soccer stadium in Fort Wayne. The Fort Wayne Football Club said the project remains on schedule to open ahead of the 2026 season.
Plans for the stadium were first announced last November. In addition to soccer games, the venue will be used for other regional entertainment events, including concerts, festivals and community events, according to the team.
The venue is being built near Bass Road and I-69 on the city’s west side.
Financial details of the project have not been disclosed, but the stadium is being privately funded by Fort Wayne FC majority owner and Ruoff Mortgage CEO Mark Music.
“These are exciting early steps in preparing the site for our new stadium,” Fort Wayne FC Chief Operations Officer Scott Sproat said in a news release. “We will release more details in the weeks to come, but we’re on schedule to realize our plans and progress toward the future vision of Fort Wayne FC hosting professional soccer in 2026.”
The groundbreaking comes nearly two months after Fort Wayne FC announced it is moving up the ladder in the United Soccer League by moving to USL League One in 2026. The team currently plays in the pre-professional USL League Two.
“Our staff has been hard at work making sure this season in USL League Two will be another championship season, and there is a considerable buzz around Fort Wayne as we work toward growing the game of soccer in the area,” Sproat said. “We’re also hard at work making sure that the new stadium will provide a premier experience for fans in 2026 and put our players in position to succeed at the professional level.”
Fort Wayne FC will kick off its final season in USL League Two on May 11.
