Our partners at The Times of Northwest Indiana report plans call for the barn-shaped Fairfield Inn & Suites to include 31 rooms and eight larger "silo suites." The hotel is expected to open in about a year.
The publication reports the agritourism destination, located on the edge of Jasper and Newton counties, attracts 500,000 visitors a year and employs some 400 in northwest Indiana. The new hotel will connect to the property’s existing Farmhouse Restaurant, Pub and Conference Center. It will be geared toward tourists, weddings and business people. Civil engineering is being handled by Crown Point-based DVG, the Schererville office of CORE Construction is building the hotel and Good Hospitality Services of Valparaiso will manage the hotel.
