Connecting Careers & Classrooms to Health Care

Indiana Congresswoman Susan Brooks (R-5) says the state can advance its health care work force by "educating educators." Today’s Connecting Careers & Classrooms event at Riverview Hospital in Noblesville will focus on the growing sector. Middle and high school guidance counselors and teachers will connect with employers and learn about careers in the high-demand field. This year, registered nurse topped the Indiana Department of Workforce Development’s list of the regional Hoosier Hot 50 Jobs. Ten of those jobs were in the health care sector.
Congresswoman Brooks says the event is an opportunity for educators to make connections with people who can help them make connections for their own students.
The Connecting Careers & Classrooms: Focus on Healthcare event kicks off Friday morning at 8:30 and runs till 3:00 p.m. Congresswoman Brooks says 75 people have signed up for the workshop. The educators will also take a tour of Riverview Hospital.
