The accolades continue to roll in for Indianapolis International Airport. According to Airport Authority Executive Director Mario Rodriguez, Indy will this week be named the number one domestic airport in the United States in the annual Condé Nast Readers’ Choice Awards. It is the fourth consecutive year Indianapolis International has landed the top spot on the prestigious consumer survey. “300,000 of their readers filled in surveys and the majority said we’re number one, “ said Rodriguez.

Rodriguez talked about the Condé Nast ranking and what could be a record 2017 during an interview on Inside Indiana Business Television.

The annual online survey is based on direct consumer experiences with hotels, resorts, airports and travel destinations around the globe.

The Condé Nast recognition in a string of honors for the state’s largest airport.  In 2016, the airport received the Best Airport in North America Award from Airports Council International North America, TripAdvisor Travelers’ Choice Favorite for U.S. Airports among medium-sized airports and finished second on the Travel + Leisure Magazine’s annual World’s Best Awards among U.S. domestic airports.

Rodriguez also said the airport is on pace to set a record for passenger traffic in 2017, surpassing last year’s mark of 8.5 million passengers. “Things are doing really well, our economy is doing fantastic and it’s bringing in the numbers,” said Rodriguez.
