The Greene County Redevelopment Commission has approved a tax abatement request for a New York-based company's proposal to restart a mining operation near Jasonville. The Greene County Daily World reports the Quest Energy Corp. plan could create 150 jobs by the end of next year. The company says it would invest around $67 million over four years into reopening the former Landree Mine.

Wages at the operation could range between $50,000 and $60,000 per year.

Quest Energy Corp. has an office in Indianapolis and runs a mine in Eastern Kentucky and is currently bidding on ownership of the mine through U.S. Bankruptcy Court.

The full county council could vote on the plan Monday.
