Multiple companies with large Indiana footprints are among Fortune’s 100 Best Companies to Work For. The results of the annual list are determined by more than 315,000 employee survey responses. The publication’s Trust Index Survey included over 50 questions that focused on executive team effectiveness, innovation and people-focused programs.

Companies on the list have at least 1,000 employees and must reach certain participation and confidence levels.

The list did not include any companies headquartered in Indiana, but did include:

  • California-based salesforce.com Inc. (NYSE: CRM), which ranked number one overall and is planning to add up to 800 new jobs in downtown Indianapolis by 2021.
  • Crowe Horwath LLP, which placed 62nd and was started in South Bend in the early 1940s. It currently has over 700 Indiana employees, including its chief executive officer, chief operating officer and chief marketing officer at two offices in central Indiana. CEO Jim Powers says "we do very serious and important work, but there’s no reason why we can’t have fun doing it. When people feel more trusted, they are more innovative, creative and engaged. I believe that is foundational in everything we’ve accomplished as a firm and lines up with our firm’s values of Care, Share, Invest and Grow."
  • FedEx Corp. (NYSE: FDX), which was 94th this year. The Tennessee-based logistics provider is continuing to boost its large presence on Indianapolis International Airport property, including a recently-announced $1.5 billion investment plan for the Indy hub. Details of the expansion have not yet been made public.
