Companies Join IDEM Environmental Program

The Indiana Department of Environmental Management has placed Arvin Sango Inc. in Jefferson County and Marathon Pipe Line LLC in Marion County into its Environmental Stewardship Program. The companies join 56 other businesses that have committed to measurable improvements to reduce water or energy use, decreasing hazardous waste or reducing air emissions. 

Madison-based Arvin Sango manufactures exhaust systems, stampings, catalytic converters and other equipment and has agreed to a four-year project to continue improving their recycling program to help their energy initiatives to move toward zero waste to landfills.

Arvin Sango says the project will investigate ways to dispose of certain materials in designated bins and will implement employee training, along with contracting with a waste incineration facility to increase recycling 153 more tons and waste to energy by 89 tons in the first year, with the ultimate goal of sending zero waste to landfills by 2024.

Clermont-based Marathon Pipe Line LLC  will make a six acre pollinator habitat at its Roachdale Station by replacing invasive flora with native flora. Marathon says it will also cut mowing frequency to once every four years to increase soil stability and to increase carbon fixation.
