Companies Expanding in Fremont

The Fremont Town Council has approved tax abatements for two expansion projects in Steuben County. Cardinal IG Co. and Miller Waste Mills plan to invest a total of $5.7 million to add new equipment to their respective facilities.
Cardinal IG is a subsidiary of Minnesota-based Cardinal Glass Industries and makes insulating glass products. The Steuben County Economic Development Corp. says the company will invest $3.1 million to add new machinery and equipment to its Fremont facility.
The need for the new equipment is follows the company’s previously-announced expansion, which resulted in 45 new jobs. The installation of the new equipment will not result in any additional jobs.
Miller Waste Mills plans to invest $1.5 million to add new machinery and expand into more of its facility. The Steuben County EDC says the expansion will create 10 additional jobs in Fremont.
The tax abatements for Cardinal IG and Miller will run for five years and four years, respectively.
