Subscribe NowFort Wayne-based Community Transportation Network will Monday break ground on a satellite garage it says will help ease the burden of transportation in Allen County. The organization says the new facility will be built in New Haven and offer space for 18 transit vans.
The Network says the new 15,000-square-foot garage, which can expand up to more than 52,000 square-feet, will make winter service more reliable for people with mobility issues in southeast Fort Wayne and east Allen County.
“This project puts us in a position to dramatically increase our impact. Whether we’re driving someone to a doctor’s appointment, to work, or to a field trip, we’re proud to help people stay connected to the community and live fuller lives,” said CTN Executive Director Justin Clupper.
Clupper says the facility is the culmination of three years of work, including buying six acres of property surrounding the construction site. Nearly half of the land was donated by the owners of Truck Maintenance, Inc., the Memmer family, who have their vehicle maintenance business next door.
“I can’t thank our donors enough. Because of their generosity, we’ll be able to hit the ground running in New Haven and fully set our focus on serving the community,” Clupper said.
CTN says it will continue to operate its current facility in north Fort Wayne.
