The organization, which is also known as Prosperity Indiana, celebrated leaders and innovators in the community economic development field.
Awards and recipients:
- Michael Carroll Community Economic Development Leadership Award/Presented to: Joe Bowling, Englewood Community Development Corp.
- Robert O. Zdenek Staff Member of the Year Award/ Presented to: Serita Cabell, Memorial Community Development Corp.
- The Key Award for Supportive Services Program of the Year/ Presented to: Satellite Kitchen Program at Second Helpings
In presenting the awards, Prosperity Indiana says the Satellite Kitchen Program exemplified ingenuity to pivot in response to the COVID-19 pandemic.
“Through a service model revamped in four days to serve more families than ever in the organization’s 22-year history, this nonprofit’s efforts also helped salvage food and hospitality jobs and prevent food waste when event after event was canceled in the spring of 2020,” said Prosperity Indiana.
The Satellite Kitchen Program now provides far more than 4,500 meals per day across central Indiana.
“The way the winners of this year’s awards show up and lead in their organizations and communities is nothing short of amazing. It’s an honor to lift up this critical community-building work and the people behind it,” said Prosperity Indiana Executive Director Jessica Love.
Winners were nominated by their peers and chosen by a judging committee, based on criteria established for each award.
