Community Health Sells Former Hospital Campus

Community Health Network has completed the sale of its campus on the west side of Indianapolis. The Indy-based nonprofit Saturday Evening Post Society Inc. has acquired the property, though financial terms of the sale were not disclosed.
The campus includes the Community Healthplex Sports Club, two medical office buildings and the former Community Westview Hospital building. The health system announced plans to close the hospital in the fall of 2016, however it continued to operate the Healthplex while searching for a new owner.
The Saturday Evening Post Society, which publishes The Saturday Evening Post magazine as well as youth magazines Humpty Dumpty and Jack and Jill, will relocate its headquarters to the property. Chief Executive Officer Joan SerVaas says the Healthplex will allow the nonprofit to sustain and expand its health and wellness programming.
"Our goal was to find the right partner and we found that in Joan’s organization," said Jason Fahrlander, chief operating officer for Community Health Network. "Joan has lifelong connections to the neighborhoods in the vicinity of our former West campus and shares our mission of enhancing health and well-being."
Community says it will continue to operate certain services in the Healthplex, including physical therapy and rehabilitation, as well as the breast screening center. The health system also plans to work with the new owners to determine the best use of the other facilities on campus, including the former hospital..
