Community Health Network has named Virginia Ann (Gina) Davidson chief risk and compliance officer. She has spent the last decade as a partner and practice group chair with the law firm Calfee, Halter & Griswold LLP. While at the firm, Davidson focused on compliance, investigations, healthcare, accounting, securities, the False Claims Act, food and drug law, and trade secrets. During her time at the firm, she also represented an Ohio-based hospital system with operating revenue of approximately $1 billion. In her new role, Davidson will be accountable for enabling the efficient and effective governance of significant risks, and to set up a strategic risk management vision and deliver that vision network wide. In the past, she both represented and opposed individuals, physicians, physician practices as well as the United States government in litigation and related criminal investigations. Davidson investigated medical device manufacturers and served as an expert in misbranding matters under the food and drug laws. She also conducted civil and criminal U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration investigations and Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act, or HIPAA, investigations. On top of her law firm experience, Davidson served as a healthcare fraud coordinator while serving as assistant U.S. attorney with the Department of Justice. In this role, she worked daily with the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, fiscal intermediaries, contractors, private insurers and state agencies responsible for healthcare billing fraud and abuse oversight and enforcement. She received her law degree from Boston University Law School and her undergraduate in journalism from Marquette University.
