A 1983 Goshen graduate, she currently serves as vice provost for undergraduate education at Cornell University in New York. Stoltzfus must still receive final approval from the Goshen College and Mennonite Education Agency boards.
Stoltzfus has been with Cornell since 2002, becoming an executive in 2011. She previously served as a human nutrition teacher at Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health. Stoltzfus was a member of the GC board from 1998-2007. She says "the transformative education I received at Goshen College has fundamentally shaped my understanding of the world and my work as a global health researcher, as a teacher and as a leader in higher education. Thus, I am deeply honored by this call to return to my alma mater to serve and lead at this time."
Her formal introduction to the school is set for June 14 and the search committee will finalize its recommendation to the college and MEA during the visit. Stoltzfus is slated to take office in early November. Current Goshen College Provost Ken Newbold will serve as interim president beginning June 1, bridging the end of outgoing President Jim Brenneman’s tenure and the start of the Stoltzfus era.
