Officials to Outline $80M in Columbus Investment

(NYSE: CMI) and the rail transit companies will be on-hand for the announcement. Few details on the two planned projects have been publicly released. Inside INdiana Business will be in the Bartholomew County city for the announcement.
The news conference is expected to include Governor Eric Holcomb, Mayor Jim Lienhoop and Cummins President Rich Freeland, as well as:
- Indiana Secretary of Commerce Jim Schellinger
- Indiana Department of Transportation Commissioner Joe McGuinness
- State Senator Greg Walker (R-41)
- State Representative Milo Smith (R-59)
- Louisville & Indiana Railroad President John Goldman
- representatives from CSX Corp. (Nasdaq: CSX)
- representatives from Bartholomew County
The announcement will take place at Cummins’ global headquarters in Columbus. The manufacturer recently touted what it sees as a global advantage in capitalizing on new technologies and says it will be delivering fully-electric and plug-in hybrid powertrain offerings in 2019. Chief Executive Officer Tom Linebarger said Cummins is "better positioned than any other company to win in new and emerging technologies."
