The Whitley County Economic Development Corp. says Fort Wayne Metals Advanced Materials Development LLC plans to invest $12 million into new equipment and add 15 jobs. The company is a subsidiary of Fort Wayne Metals Research Products Corp. and says the expansion will boost stainless steel, nickel, cobalt, nitinol, titanium alloys and composite material melting capacity.
The company currently employs more than 40. General Manager Jeff Slater says "this expansion will help fuel the growth of our entire company. The materials we produce here support the growth of our entire operation. Columbia City should be proud of the fact that it helps lay the groundwork for countless life-saving innovations in the medical device industry."
The Whitley County Council has already approved a 10-year tax abatement on the project. In 2011, the company announced $13 million plans to locate a facility in Whitley County.
