The Colts have played three games overseas, but never a regular season contest. They took part in an "American Bowl" series game in Mexico City in 2000. The team played preseason games in Tokyo in 2005 and Toronto in 2010. The Jaguars have become regulars in London. The team has played a game at Wembley Stadium for each of the last three seasons, and recently extended its commitment to play one game per year there through 2020.
Other games in this season’s U.K. series include the St. Louis Rams playing a to-be-determined NFC East opponent on Sunday, October 23 and the Washington Redskins playing the Cincinnati Bengals on Sunday, October 30.
The NFL is showing increasing interest in growing its popularity in the United Kingdom. At the conclusion of the 2016 season, more than 20 teams will have played in London since the International Series began in 2007. The league says Sunday viewership of its games there has more than doubled, and amateur football participation in the U.K. has risen by about 15 percent in that time.
