It marks the seventh consecutive season Anderson University has hosted the team. Anderson Mayor Tom Broderick expects camp to have a "great deal of impact," estimating a $6.5 million economic impact over the next two weeks.
The Colts will hold their first practice Wednesday at the Kardatzke Wellness Center/Macholtz Stadium complex on the northeast side of campus. Practices will be free and open to the public, although there will be a parking fee. The team will break camp August 11.
The team will begin its preseason schedule with the Hall of Fame Game on August 7 against the Green Bay Packers. The game comes the day after former Colts Marvin Harrison and Tony Dungy are inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame.
Much of the focus will be on quarterback Andrew Luck, who recently signed the richest deal in National Football League history. The $140 million deal keeps Luck in Indianapolis through 2021.Luck has thrown for nearly 15,000 yards and more than 100 touchdowns since being selected with the first overall pick in the 2012 NFL draft, but missed more than half of last season with injuries.
