Colts Hire ‘Heavyweight Executive’ as GM

Indianapolis Colts owner Jim Irsay says the team’s new general manager is a "savvy, organized and thorough talent evaluator." The team announced Sunday evening that Kansas City Chiefs Director of Player Personnel Chris Ballard would succeed Ryan Grigson, who was let go earlier this month.
Ballard has been with the Chiefs since 2013. In those four seasons, the team compiled a 43-21 overall record, earning the second seed in the AFC this season. Before coming to Kansas City, Ballard spent 12 years with the Chicago Bears, mostly as an area scout. Over the last few years, the Bears, Tennessee Titans and San Francisco 49ers have all shown interest in Ballard as a GM candidate.
The Colts finished 8-8 this season and missed the playoffs for the second straight season.
Team leaders say they interviewed six candidates for the opening.
The team announced last week that, after seven years, it will move training camp from Anderson University. Inside INdiana Business has confirmed that the Colts have been in discussions about a potential training camp move to DaPauw University in Greencastle.
