Colleges Snag Talent Search Funding

The U.S. Department of Education Talent Search program supports efforts that boost high school graduation levels and college preparedness.
In all, $144 million was distributed in this round.
Undersecretary of Education Ted Mitchell says "for the past five decades, the Talent Search program has propelled more than 11 million students towards postsecondary success. Because of the Talent Search program thousands of students, every year, enhance their ability to successfully transition from high school to college."
The department days the program is designed for students traditionally underrepresented in postsecondary education. These groups include students with disabilities, students with limited English proficient, homeless children and youth, students who are in or exiting foster care and first-generation college students.
There were a total of 459 grantees.
The Indiana recipients are:
- Oakland City University – $360,000
- Purdue University – Two Grants: $325,920 and $356,640
- Vincennes University – Two Grants: $396,000 and $284,160
