College Savings Initiative Poised to Grow
529 College Savings Day is underway. The executive director of the Indiana Education Savings Authority, which administers the state program, says a successful matching grant initiative in northern Indiana is set to expand. During an (i) on Education interview, Jodi Golden detailed how the Wabash County Promise program is gaining momentum and could eventually go statewide. She says Indiana's 529 program is unique because it offers a tax credit. Other states offer tax deductions.
Plans call for a small number of programs like the one in Wabash County to launch in other communities over the next two years, eventually branching out throughout the state.
