News Release

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – The Indiana Commission for Higher Education (CHE) has approved seven new programs within Ivy Tech Community College's School of Computing and Informatics. A business and industry IT task force provided development guidance and endorsement of the programs. The new programs will begin in August 2014 and are available at select Ivy Tech campuses across the state. This initiative directly links to the College's new academic division structure of providing focused workforce relevant career pathways for students.

The seven new programs include Cyber Security-Information Assurance (CSIA), Database Management and Administration (DBMS), Server Administration (SVAD), Software Development (SDEV), Informatics (INFM), Information Technology Support (ITSP), and Network Infrastructure (NETI). The Computer Science program (CSCI) was initially offered in 2012 and is also in the School of Computing and Informatics.

Degrees granted to Ivy Tech students through the School of Computing and Informatics will allow graduates to be prepared for careers that are in high-demand in computing and informatics. Certificates toward preparing students to earn IT certifications are incorporated throughout the program curricula. Pathways are available for students to transfer to a four-year university so students can pursue a bachelor's degree and more.

Ivy Tech Community College is the state's largest public postsecondary institution and the nation’s largest singly accredited statewide community college system serving nearly 200,000 students annually. Ivy Tech has campuses throughout Indiana. It serves as the state's engine of workforce development, offering affordable degree programs and training that are aligned with the needs of its community along with courses and programs that transfer to other colleges and universities in Indiana. It is accredited by the Higher Learning Commission and a member of the North Central Association.
