College Launching High-Tech Programs

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – The Indiana Commission for Higher Education (CHE) has approved seven new programs within Ivy Tech Community College's School of Computing and Informatics. A business and industry IT task force provided development guidance and endorsement of the programs. The new programs will begin in August 2014 and are available at select Ivy Tech campuses across the state. This initiative directly links to the College's new academic division structure of providing focused workforce relevant career pathways for students.
The seven new programs include Cyber Security-Information Assurance (CSIA), Database Management and Administration (DBMS), Server Administration (SVAD), Software Development (SDEV), Informatics (INFM), Information Technology Support (ITSP), and Network Infrastructure (NETI). The Computer Science program (CSCI) was initially offered in 2012 and is also in the School of Computing and Informatics.
Degrees granted to Ivy Tech students through the School of Computing and Informatics will allow graduates to be prepared for careers that are in high-demand in computing and informatics. Certificates toward preparing students to earn IT certifications are incorporated throughout the program curricula. Pathways are available for students to transfer to a four-year university so students can pursue a bachelor's degree and more.
