Coats to Receive ‘Citizen of the Year’ Honor in September

Subscribe NowGovernor Eric Holcomb will present the International Citizen of the Year award to former congressman, senator and diplomat Dan Coats at an event next month. The International Center in Indianapolis announced Coats as the recipient last year, but the formal presentation as postponed due to the pandemic.
The award recognizes individuals “who have made outstanding contributions to Indiana and the world in the fields of business, culture, education, government, medicine, media, research, sports or community service.” Holcomb himself received the award in 2018.
“We are proud to have this opportunity to recognize Senator Coats’ many international accomplishments and the way he has represented Indiana to the world,” said Martin Baier, chief executive officer of The International Center. “We look forward to celebrating him this fall in a way he richly deserves.”
Additionally, the organization will announce the winner of the Global Impression Award, which honors emerging global leaders in Indiana.
The awards will be presented September 14 during a ceremony in downtown Indianapolis. Inside INdiana Business Host Gerry Dick will serve as the emcee for the event.
