A Canadian company is establishing its first Indiana operation in Berne and adding up to 120 jobs by 2018. Newly-incorporated Indiana Coatings Inc. plans to invest nearly $4 million to locate the new facility in the former Ficosa North America plant.
The woman-owned industrial coatings supplier plans to begin production in Berne in January. Indiana Coatings is affiliated with a similar operation in Ontario. Indiana Secretary of Commerce Victor Smith says the move continues the trend of international relocations to Indiana, saying Canadian companies "continue to see the business advantage our state offers."
The company says it will begin hiring soon. Interested applicants will be able to find more information by visiting the WorkOne Northeast website.
The Indiana Economic Development Corp. Offered Indiana Coatings up to $1 million in conditional tax credits based on its job creation plans.
Indiana Coatings is the second Canadian company this year to unveil plans to set up shop in Indiana. Vegetable oil recycler ShaLee Oils LLC relocated its operations earlier this month from Ontario to Hartford City.
