Closure to Leave Hundreds Out of Work in Winchester

Indiana Marujun LLC says it will begin winding down operations this month and wrap up late next year. The company attributes the decision to "business conditions and profitability concerns" and says it is in negotiations to sell the operation.
IML opened the stamping facility in Randolph County more than 15 years ago. In a statement obtained by our partners at WTHR-TV in Indianapolis, IML says:
"Our greatest concern is for our associates and their families. We will do all we can to provide help and support to our associates through this transition."
The company employs full and temporary workers in three shifts at the 450,000 square-foot east central Indiana plant. It serves as a supplier to Honda Manufacturing of Indiana LLC in Greensburg, Honda of America Manufacturing, Honda of Alabama, Marysville Auto Plant, East Liberty Auto Plant, International Parts Supply and Honda de Mexico. IML workers produce steering hanger beams, hand brakes, hood locks, fuel lids, fuel filler pipes and body parts.
The Winchester operation is Japan-based parent company MARUJUN Co. Ltd.’s only U.S. location. The global manufacturer has a presence in Thailand, China, Indonesia and a joint venture in India.
