Subscribe NowThe Clark-Floyd Counties Convention & Tourism Bureau has approved more than $1.2 million in funding for three community projects. The funding comes from the bureau’s Capital Development Tourism Fund, which supports new tourism experiences in the region.
The bureau will award $825,000 to the New Albany Visitor & Historic Generator Project. The funding will help complete of the last section of the Ohio River Greenway, increase accessibility to the Loop Island Wetlands nature preserve, and provide improvements to the Culbertson Mansion State Historic Site, including a complete restoration of the home’s cast iron.
The town of Clarksville will receive $275,000 for the completion of the first phase of the Clarksville Connectivity Project. Work on the first phase includes the conversion of the former CSX Railroad corridor into a central trail, the implementation of a localized directional wayfinding program, and public safety enhancements to the existing Levee and Heritage Trails.
The final $110,000 will be awarded to the Falls of the Ohio Foundation Inc. for the orientation film project at the Ohio State Park Interpretive Center. The bureau says the funding will allow the center to replace its 23-year-old orientation film with one incorporating new exhibits and utilizing the latest technology.
The bureau’s Board of Managers approved the funding at its June meeting.
