The Indianapolis Metropolitan Development Commission will consider a tax abatement request today for Louisville-based Premier Packaging LLC. The company is looking to invest $4 million to equip a distribution facility in a project expected to create around 60 jobs by 2017.
If the request receives preliminary approval today, it would be scheduled to come up for a final vote on Wednesday, August 5.
Premier Packaging employs more than 300 associates at 18 facilities in the United States. It plans to hire for operation, design, maintenance and office positions in Indianapolis.
The company first announced plans in Indiana last month. At the time, President Ben Blincoe called Indianapolis a "hot market," saying the city is a key part of its efforts to grow its Midwest footprint.
