The nearly $368,000 in grant funding will support a new pool deck, combined pool house and concession stand, aquatic feature and wading pool.
Mayor Clint Lamb says fundraising efforts ramped up over the last ten months when the city and Parks Board launched a marketing and fundraising campaign, Splash Sullivan.
“Our community has had a vision to restore a piece of our City’s history and entertainment, and this award puts us even closer. Thank you to DNR for your commitment to this project and for helping us revitalize something engrained within our community,” said Lamb.
Board President Ellen Tucker says the community needs a central place to play and relax.
“This fundraising effort has certainly shown this is what the community wants, and it’s coming. We are grateful for the commitment from DNR for helping us get to this point”, Tucker said.
The city announced last month that more than $100,000 had been raised for the multi-million dollar project, which is slated to open this summer.
