News Release

SHELBYVILLE, Ind. – The City of Shelbyville and Shelby County are aware of the manufacturing skills gap in the area and have responded by developing the Manufacturing Skills Connection. This program is an Indiana regional partnership of industries, organizations, education and government, bringing job training and career opportunities to current residents and newcomers.

Through the support of the Duke Energy Foundation, multiple Indiana communities, Shelby County included, will have the opportunity to address the manufacturing talent skills gap. Direct student scholarships will be made available for residents of the area, allowing them to complete the Certified Production Technician training program targeted to begin in February 2014 in Shelbyville. Upon successful completion of the program, individuals will earn a nationally recognized certification valued by manufacturers, which in turn makes them excellent candidates for positions with local employers.

Interested candidates and employers are invited to attend one of the free Discovery Sessions on January 29th at 10:00am and 2:00pm at the Intelliplex Conference Center, located at 2154 Intelliplex Drive, in Shelbyville.
